Specialties

As a professional and experienced therapist, I believe in using different approaches to resolve diverse kinds of issues to meet my clients’ needs.  No two individuals are the same, and we all have different needs and personalities.  Although I aim to use a holistic approach to treat all my clients, the therapy and counseling I provide can be categorized into the following classes.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is an evidence-based practice that brings us positive benefits for our health, happiness, work, and relationships. Mindfulness is the essential human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s happening around us. We can cultivate the ability to be mindful through practicing meditation and merging it with other activities such as yoga, sports, or art.

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology studies our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, focusing on strengths instead of weaknesses and building the good in life instead of repairing the bad. With an approach of positive psychology, therapists facilitate clients to think about their character strengths, optimism in life, gratitude, well-being, compassion for self and others, self-esteem and confidence, and hope and satisfaction in life.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that teaches people how to live in the moment, cope with stress using healthy strategies, regulate emotions, and improve relationships. The most important method in DBT is mindfulness to help clients stay calm and avoid engaging in automatic negative thought patterns and impulsive behavior. The therapist also uses techniques to teach clients to accept themself and the current situation, become more assertive in a relationship, and identify, name, and change their emotions.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a form of psychological treatment that helps people identify and change automatic destructive thoughts patterns that harm behavior and emotions. Through CBT, clients can learn their automatic negative thoughts and practice identifying, challenging, and replacing them with more positive, realistic thoughts.

Art Therapy

Art Therapy is a specialized modality to help clients to explore emotions, improve symptoms of anxiety and depression, increase self-esteem, manage addictions, relieve stress, and resolve other psychological conflicts through the creative process of art-making. The goal of art therapy is, through the process of drawing, painting, coloring, sculpting, or collage, to help people explore self-expression and find new ways to gain personal insight and develop new coping skills.
